Jet fuel fumes on the tarmac

Many of us have been there: stranded on the tarmac, waiting for our plane to take off, taxiing to the runway, or even delayed at the gate. We're all together and we sit quietly, saying nothing as the cabin fills with the unmistakable pungent fumes of jet exhaust. Regardless of how awful they may or not be for our health, it seems we could agree that they are at least not the newest elixir, a fountain of youth.

Would it be so hard, so costly, such an engineering feat, to add a charcoal filter on the air intake for the cabin?
