Open Sourcing X-Lint

In what will hopefully be the first in a series, I'm letting X-Lint take off, today: October 25, 2012, on the eve of the 1-year anniversary of the IP. Most of the resources are here and on their way up on file pages. For anything else ping me.

Samson Design is the Boulder based design firm who has put forth an RFP to take the prototype to the next level.

Their assurances about the deliverable fall short of a product offering for the residential OR commercial Laundromat market and, at ~$100,000, make it difficult to justify a crowdfunding effort. Such an effort would likely mean outreach to those ~18,000 who get the primary trade publication: Planet Laundry.

Two years of research and analysis indicate that the commerical laundromat segment has the best profile (versus residential customers) for myriad reasons including:

  • Lower cost of customer acquisition
  • Fewer concerns about SKU variation with respect to implications for X-Lint manufacture
  • Energy saved per unit sold - TBL
