awesome stuff to see & do in Chicago

The food...

Terragusto, on Addison (Brown line Addison stop puts you about 1-2 blocks away) is consistently one of the best places to dine in the city and is mindful about sourcing & preparation - simple food, great ingredients: 1851 West Addison Street, Chicago, IL 60613-3502

One of my favorite nature spaces in the city - FREE and open every day except X-mas & New Years, I think -- the Conservatory in Lincoln Park This is also adjacent to Lincoln Park Zoo

2073N Lincoln ave has another great place (I think -- Google streetview, which I'm using to find these places, has images of it when it was under construction ;) for dinner -- let's call that a mystery easter egg...

Just to the north, Evanston also offers some great options for dining from the more casual LuLu's (
804 Davis Street, Evanston, IL (847) 869-4343 · lulusdimsum.com) Davis/Sherman to Carmen's Pizza, a few blocks east on Davis to (upscale) Va Pensiero :

Pensiero Ristorante | 1566 Oak Avenue |Evanston, IL 60201-4234 | (847) 475-7779

to
The Original Pancake House, up in Wilmette, on Green Bay road -- a great breakfast spot -- get the impressive & beautiful german pancake and share :) try not to go at peak brunch time or there will literally be a line around the restaurant.

A great combination for a walk in Millenium park, downtown is  Pastoral:
53 East Lake Street | Chicago, IL 60601 |(312) 658-1250

pastoralartisan.com -- PERFECT to grab a sandwich and a beer and head to the park for some good old-fashioned law-flouting, lux-picnic style on an unseasonably warm day. Their wine/cheese selection and recommended pairings (they also have tasting evenings) are exceptional.
